reflexology
reflexology works powerfully to decrease stress and soothe the nervous system
gentle bodywork
Reflexology is a gentle form of bodywork based on the theory that there are reflex points on the feet, hands, and ears which correspond to all parts of the body and each body system. Reflexology offers a holistic approach to wellness. Applying gentle pressure to the reflex points creates a stimulus at the nerve endings and reduces tension in other areas of the body through the nerve pathways. Breaking down tension in the body eliminates toxins, reduces pain, and allows the body to heal itself. By following the reflexology maps, each body part and body system can be accessed creating a systemic response and overall relaxation. Releasing congestion or stress in the nervous system can help to restore and balance the body's energy.
reflexology for menopause support
Menopause is a significant life transition that often comes with a range of physical and emotional symptoms, including hot flashes, mood swings, insomnia, fatigue, and anxiety, to name a few. Reflexology can be a supportive therapy during this time by helping to manage and alleviate many of these symptoms. Specific reflex points on the feet and hands are believed to stimulate the hormonal and endocrine systems, aiding in the regulation of hormone levels that fluctuate during menopause. For example, working on the reflexes associated with the ovaries, pituitary gland, and the adrenal glands can support hormonal balance and help reduce symptoms like hot flashes and night sweats.
Reflexology can also help to relieve stress, promote better sleep, and ease tension in the body, which are common challenges during menopause. By calming the nervous system, reflexology can create a sense of emotional equilibrium, helping to manage mood swings and anxiety. Regular reflexology sessions can help to enhance overall well-being during this transition, offering both physical and emotional support as the body adjusts to changes.
reflexology for everyone
The same powerful results that are possible when using reflexology as menopause support are available to everyone, no matter their symptoms or circumstances. Reflexology has shown to be beneficial in reducing symptoms related to headaches, asthma, cancer treatment, premenstrual syndrome, depression, and both acute and chronic pain, to name a few. Even if you’re feeling well, reflexology can be enjoyed as a practice for deep relaxation.
book your sessions
During your reflexology sessions, you’ll be fully clothed, removing only your shoes and socks. Fifty minutes sessions are typical which can include a full foot reflexology treatment or a combination of ear, hand, and foot reflexology. Reflexology sessions are currently available in person on Wednesdays at Mind Body Sanctuary in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle.
